Initiatives in Belgrade are
growing to prevent the Serbian dinar and other currencies from
being used in cash transactions in Kosovo, which will be allowed
only be conducted in euros. The Belgrade leadership spoke of a
new demonstration of Pristina's desire to make the lives of
Kosovo Serbs more difficult in order to force them to flee,
essentially a form of ethnic cleansing. Following the stance
taken yesterday by the 'Quint', today the American ambassador to
Pristina Jeffrey Hovenier urged a postponement of the measure.
