Greece's lawmakers will debate a
landmark bill to legalise same-sex marriage on Wednesday, making
Greece the first Orthodox Christian country to do so, according
to the daily Kathimerini. The parliamentary session comes after
the Church's vocal opposition and protests, as well as a shift
in public opinion, which, while still divided, is narrowly
supportive of the reform. If approved, the bill would grant
same-sex couples full parental rights while prohibiting male
partners from seeking children born in Greece through surrogacy.
