(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEB 23 - According to the portal BIRN, more counterfeit banknotes have been discovered in Croatia since the beginning of 2023, the year in which Croatia adopted the euro. The Croatian National Bank, HNB, confirmed to BIRN that 293 counterfeit euro banknotes have been discovered in the country since the beginning of 2023. It means that in less than two months, more forged notes were discovered than in the entire previous year, when 260 fake euro banknotes were discovered, as well as the previous year, when 228 were discovered. The most common counterfeit denominations were 50 euro bills, which accounted for nearly 200 pieces. (ANSA).
