The second edition of the Summit on Sustainable Development of the Upper Adriatic and Central Europe began today in Trieste.
The event, running until tomorrow, focuses on the issue of air quality and features experts in the field from Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Carinthia, the Slovenian coast, and Istria, in addition to Friuli Venezia Giulia. "It is not only a meeting in which top experts in the environmental field take part to delve into the crucial issue of air quality," underlined FVG Regional Councillor for Environmental Defense, Energy, and Sustainable Development Fabio Scoccimarro, "but also an opportunity to create a network of people, professionals and institutions committed to finding solutions to present needs without compromising the future of the next generations.
Together, we can pave the way for sustainable and inclusive development." "The opening of this day," he added, "is a unique opportunity to reflect on the challenges and opportunities ahead of us, guided by the vision and commitment to build proposals from the bottom up, to highlight how much already common perspectives can be generated from neighboring territories.
Today, the technicians participating in this summit - the FVG Region reported - are drafting a joint document that will define the possible ways of collaboration and exchange of data and information related to the monitoring and assessment of air quality in each country.
Tomorrow, in the presence of institutional representatives of the partner countries, the meeting will focus on the final document. "A Memorandum," Scoccimarro remarked, "with which the signatories make and share concrete commitments, with the awareness that environmental and air quality policies have no boundaries."
