Serie A's sporting judge said on
Tuesday that it has referred the case of the allegedly racist
slur Inter defender Francesco Acerbi directed at Napoli's Juan
Jesus during the match between the teams at San Siro on Sunday
to the Italian Soccer Federation's sporting prosecutor.
Brazilian defender Jesus complained to the referee during the
1-1 draw, in which he scored his side's equalizer, apparently
saying Acerbi had called him "negro".
Jesus initially played down the incident when asked about it
after the match, in which Acerbi apologised, saying what happens
on the field stays on the field.
But on Monday he publicly accused Acerbi of using the word
'negro' after the Inter defender claimed he had not said
anything racist after being dropped from the Italy squad for
upcoming friendlies against Venezuela and Ecuador over the
incident.
Acerbi, 36, could face a long ban if he is found guilty of
racist abuse.
