One in five Italian children between
the ages of eight and nine are overweight and 10% obese,
according to a report out Friday.
The overweight data are falling while obesity rates were stable
until last year when they showed a slight rise, said the Okkio
alla Salute report for the Higher Health Institute (ISS).
Almost two out of five children don't eat a proper breakfast,
more than 50% have a big snack at mid morning, one in four
habitually drinks sugary or fizzy drinks, and have fruit and
vegetables less than once a day, said the report, which said
"unhealthy eating habits are on the rise".
