A 21-year-old Italian man of Egyptian
origin has agreed to be extradited from France to Italy to face
charges of murdering a 22-year-old Frenchwoman near Aosta at the
start of the month, legal sources said Wednesday.
Speaking at a Grenoble prison, Sohaib Teima, the 21-year-old
from Fermo, arrested in Lyon last Wednesday and "seriously
suspected", according to the Aosta public prosecutor's office,
of the murder of his companion, the Frenchwoman Auriane Nathalie
Laisne (22), who was stabbed to death and then found dead on 5
April in a small ruined church above La Salle, in the Aosta
Valley, gave his consent to his extradition to Italy.
On Thursday Teima, who is resident in Grenoble, will appear
before the judges of the 'chambre de l'instruction' of the
Grenoble Court of Appeal, who will have to rule on his surrender
after a European arrest warrant issued by Italy. A decision is
expected within seven days.
