Bank of Italy Governor Ignazio Visco
said Wednesday that Italy had emerged from the multiple crises
of recent years better than expected.
"The pandemic hit the country when it still had not fully
recovered from the damage inflicted by a double crisis, when the
slow, fragmented introduction of the necessary reforms struggled
to solve the problems that held back our development," said
Visco.
"But Italy overcame this third, extremely serious crisis better
than expected, as it did the energy shock that following the
Russian aggression on Ukraine.
"Now we must reinforce our international position".
