(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 3 - Italian superstar Roberto Bolle took
to Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre (DMA), Expo 2020 Dubai, on
Wednesday evening with his troupe of acclaimed dancers for a
breathtaking gala ballet performance.
The Roberto Bolle and Friends' show, staged in collaboration
with the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, featured a
repertoire of much-loved classics as well as contemporary
performances curated by Bolle himself.
Opening with an extraordinary pas de deux between Bolle and a
laser beam in choreographer Massimiliano Volpini's Waves, the
show continued with stunning performances from Biance Teixeira
and Osiel Gouno in choreographer Marius Petipa's Le Corsaire;
followed by a magical duet from Maria Eichwald and Bolle in
choreographer Roland Petit's Thaïs, among the 10 performances.
The gala show demonstrated the dancers' incredible energy,
breadth of balletic range and technical skills - ranging from a
comic solo dance by Dinu Tamazlacuru in choreographer Ben Van
Cauwenbergh's Les Bourgeois to a daring performance by Bolle,
with violinist Alexandra Quarta playing Von Biber's Passacaglia
theme, in Volpini's Dorian Gray.
The show drew to a close with a standing ovation.
The first Italian dancer to be invited to perform at the
Metropolitan Opera, Bolle trained in Milan's La Scala Theatre
Ballet School, before quickly moving onto starring roles in
productions by prestigious companies, including London's The
Royal Ballet, Russia's Mariinsky Ballet and Paris Opera Ballet.
