(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 3 - Italy's winningest Winter Olympian
Arianna Fontana said at the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai
Thursday that her 500m short track gold medal in Beijing - her
second gold in her record haul of 11 medals - "is certainly a
medal that has great value for me, especially since I compete
against girls who are 6-7-8 years younger than me".
Fontana was speaking at the event "Italy global in sport and
major events".
Sports Undersecretary and fencing great Valentina Vezzali said
sport was worth some 3.4% of GDP and sporting tourism generated
income of around 17 billion euros.
Foreign Undersecretary Manlio Di Stefano said "sport can be an
ambassador of peace", stressing this was "fundamental today as
never before in order to favour dialogue". (ANSA).
