(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 2 - Italy has made massive progress in the
proportion of electric and hybrid cars it exports in recent
years and the trend is set to continue, Carlo Ferro, the
president of the Italian Trade Agency, told an event at Expo
2020 Dubai.
"In 2018-19, less than 1% of Italian car exports were electric
or hybrid vehicles," Ferro told the "Connected cars and
Sustainable mobility" Innovation Talk at the Italy Pavilion.
"Today they account for 10% for a total of 10 billion euros (in
revenue) in 2020.
"The outlook is for this to grow".
He said it is normal for it to take time for production to be
shifted to more sustainable car models.
"It is necessary to give the companies and their human capital
time to adapt," Ferro said.
"The challenge is in various stages of the chain of value, from
components to hardware, cybersecurity, electronic features and
the future of electric propulsion.
"Italian industry is very well positioned". (ANSA).
