(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 22 - "The Western Balkans have always been
an important reference point for our country and are at our
doorstep. Historically, Italy has promoted several actions and
many initiatives concerning Eastern Europe, even developing
cooperation aiming to bring Bosnia and Herzegovina's standards
closer to those of Europe, a major process of regional
cooperation. The new Italian government has put in place a
strong initiative to relaunch these relations, also bearing in
mind that there could be influences from other political
entities with visions different from the European ones". Marco
Di Ruzza, the Italian ambassador to Bosnia, said today at the
ANSA forum on bilateral relations between Italy and Bosnia
Herzegovina. (ANSA).
