(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 21 SET - "We need to realise that the
immigration is a European issue and not a national one. Greece,
Italy and other countries are in the frontline, but we can't
live them alone and we need to work togheter. The European Union
has to realise that these responsabilities need to be shared
among all 27 members states," the President of the European
Committee of the Regions, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, said after a
meeting with Massimiliano Fedriga, the President of the Friuli
Venezia Giulia region. At the meeting, Tzitzikostas and Fedriga
discussed how to enhance the role of regions in the European
Union.
"Europe faces a series of crises," Tzitzikostas added.
"One is the health crisis, another is the migration crisis,"
he explained. "For all these crises the response is one: we need
to work together, our regions, cities and people who fight every
day on the ground." (ANSA).
