Slovenia: minister, decision on Krsko 2 not before 2024

Timing depends on conclusions of studies

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 22 - Slovenia's energy minister, Bojan Kumer, stated that the country will be able to make a decision on the construction of a second unit at the Krsko nuclear power plant as early as next year, according to the specialized portal SeeNews, citing statements made by Kumer to the daily Delo.

According to Kumer, the decision, which will most likely be voted on in a referendum, should be made by 2027 at the latest, but the timing is dependent on the study's findings.

In January, Slovenia's state-owned energy company Gen-Energija stated that a second reactor at the Krsko nuclear power plant could be built and operational by 2035 if all procedures and construction are completed on time.
