(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 29 - The tenth edition of the X-Alps biennial race, also known as the hike & fly race, where hiking is combined with paragliding, will start on June 8 from Kitzbühel in Austria. Thirty-two pilots from 18 nations have been selected, including Swiss Christian Maurer, winner of six Red Bull X-Alps editions. Italy will be represented by Aaron Durogati, Nicola Donini, and Tobias Grossrubatscher. Pilots will have about two weeks to tackle a 1,223 km route through the Alps, with the obligation to touch 15 predetermined points, called "Turn Points," before reaching the finish line in Zell am See, Austria. The only means of transportation allowed are paragliding or walking. The team that assists each competitor provides them with everything they need, including equipment for the night, during which it is strictly forbidden to move.
