(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 12 - ANSA presents its annual album of the images that best tell the story of the year that is about to end, "Photoansa 2022", at Rome's Maxxi contemporary art museum on Monday. Senate Speaker Ignazio La Russa, Confindustria President Carlo Bonomi, Sports Minister Andrea Abodi and soccer referee Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi, the first woman to officiate a Serie A match, are among the guests of honour. Ukraine's Ambassador to Italy Yaroslav Melnyk and Ukrainian journalist Nataliya Kudryk talk about the plight of their country after the Russian invasion. Indeed, images of the devastation, death and horror caused by the Russian attack on its neighbour, and how life is going on nevertheless, feature prominently in the book.

"The war that had been announced suddenly blew up in the Kyiv night, then it did not seem to want to end," ANSA President Giulio Anselmi wrote in the preface. "In page after page, image after image, its cargo of blood, pain, death and fear combine - above all fear because, after eight months of war unleashed by the Russian attack, it is still not known where the world will end up". Other key moments of the year regarded Italy's general election and the formation of an Italian government led by a women for the first time, Premier Giorgia Meloni. Monday's presentation is being sponsored by Enel. The book will also be presented in Turin on January 25 at an event sponsored by Intesa Sanpaolo. (ANSA).
