Germany, Lufthansa pilots also set to strike

Stop ground staff caused grounding of more than 1,000 flights

(ANSA) - BERLINO, 01 AGO - Members of the German pilots' union, Vereinigung Cockpit, have voted by more than 97 percent for the possibility of a strike at Lufthansa. The vote comes just days after a strike by ground staff caused more than 1,000 flights to be canceled. The vote does not already mean that a strike will take place, but it does put strong pressure on the airline in current negotiations. Pilots are demanding a 5.5 percent wage increase, plus an automatic adjustment for inflation. Negotiations between the parties continue. (ANSA).
