Tens of thousands of supporters
of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic are expected to take part
in a massive rally in Belgrade today in support of the
government and the president. The mass protest was organized in
response to three opposition-led protests in Belgrade earlier
this month, in which tens of thousands of people rallied against
the government's response to two mass shootings. Opposition
protesters have blamed Vucic for instilling division in the
country, which they claim indirectly contributed to the mass
shootings. Vucic has promised to take steps to reduce violence.
According to information on social media and pro-government
media, approximately 200,000 people are expected to attend
today's pro-Vucic demonstration. Hundreds of buses are expected
to transport people from other Serbian cities and towns to
Belgrade today, with the opposition claiming that people are
being pressured to attend the rally.
