Serbian farmers are protesting
across the country for the third day in a row. The
demonstrations have caused significant disruptions and drawn
attention from both the public and authorities, with roads
blocked in various cities throughout the province of Vojvodina
and other parts of Serbia. A convoy of 250 tractors effectively
blocked traffic on the road connecting Pozarevac to the nearby
motorway near the village of Ljubicevo on Thursday morning.
Roadblocks remain in several other locations, including the
cities of Pancevo, Bogatic, and Zrenjanin. These blockades have
slowed traffic heading to eastern Serbia, exacerbating the
impact of the protests. The demands of the farmers include
higher subsidies per hectare of arable land, a minimum purchase
price of milk and the abolishment of excise duties and VAT on
diesel fuel.
