Serbia: new protests to be held in Belgrade today

After the two mass shootings in which 17 people were killed

12 May, 10:27
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 12 - Opposition parties and the organisers of the Serbia Against Violence protest announced a new demonstration in Belgrade for this evening. Protesters took to the streets following two shootings that killed 17 people, demanding the resignation of government officials as well as a ban on violent reality shows and pro-government tabloid media.

During the May 12 protest, the Gazela bridge in Belgrade will be blocked by demonstrators for two hours, according to opposition MP Aleksandar Jovanovic. While peaceful protests are permitted, any attempt to block the bridge will be met with swift action, according to the police. The Gazela Bridge is an important traffic artery in Belgrade, connecting the city centre to the western suburbs and the E-75 highway. (ANSA).
