(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 14 - Europol said today that police
and law enforcement authorities in the Czech Republic, Poland,
Romania, and Slovakia, with the assistance of Eurojust and
Europol, had taken down an organized crime group responsible for
the production and distribution of at least 4.7 tonnes of
methamphetamine in Europe. During a joint operation that lasted
from February 26 to March 2, 16 suspects were apprehended, and
over 3.3 million tablets containing raw material for the drug's
production were seized.
The perpetrators purchased the precursors through a Romanian
company. The tablets manufactured in Romania were then divided
into smaller batches and shipped to the Czech Republic and
Slovakia, where they were distributed to clandestine
laboratories. (ANSA).
