(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 9 - Today, the European Council
adopted in first reading its position on visa-free travel for
Kosovo passport holders, according to a statement released by
the Council. The new regulations will permit Kosovo passport
holders to travel to the EU visa-free for up to 90 days in any
180-day period. This exemption from the visa requirement will
take effect upon the implementation of the European Travel
Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) or January 1, 2024,
whichever occurs first.
Before they can be signed and published in the EU's official
journal, the new rules must be approved by the European
Parliament. (ANSA).
