EU ready to release funds to Hungary: FT

Decision could guarantee Budapest's support for Ukraine

03 October, 10:56

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 3 - According to the Financial Times, the EU Commission is planning to release around 13 billion euros in direct funds to Hungary by the end of November, emphasising how the decision could ensure Budapest's support for an increase in the EU budget as well as significant financial assistance to Kiev. Due to tensions between Brussels and Budapest, the EU ordered the freezing of 22 billion euros in cohesion funds in December, to which the 5.8 billion Hungarian Pnrr must be added.
