(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 29 MAR - Greece's position against
recognizing Kosovo's independence has not changed. President
Katerina Sakellaropoulou visited Belgrade today and confirmed
this stance. Speaking at a joint press conference with Serbian
counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, the president admitted the
existence of diplomatic pressure from the West on Athens, which,
however, has not changed its position on the issue. She
underlined that Greece supports the dialogue between Belgrade
and Pristina aimed at normalizing their relations and finding a
lasting solution to ensure peace and stability in the region.
"We support the negotiations aimed at solving the issue with the
acceptance of the European proposal for an agreement,"
Sakellaropoulou added, underlining that Greece has always
maintained that Serbia belongs to the European family. "I want
to make it clear that our strategic goal is the whole Western
Balkan region's accession to the European Union," the Greek
president said. (ANSA).
