GDP up by 0.3% in the euro area, stable in the EU: Eurostat

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUL 31 - Seasonally adjusted GDP increased
by 0.3% in the eurozone and remained stable in the EU in the
second quarter of 2023, according to a preliminary flash
estimate published by Eurostat, the European Union's statistical
office. GDP in the eurozone remained stable in the first quarter
of 2023, while it increased by 0.2% in the EU.
Ireland (+3.3%) had the highest increase compared to the
previous quarter among the Member States for which data are
available for the second quarter of 2023, followed by Lithuania
(+2.8%). Sweden (-1.5%), Latvia (-0.6%), Austria (-0.4%), and
Italy (-0.3%) all experienced declines. Growth rates were
positive in seven countries when compared to the same quarter
the previous year, with Ireland (+2.8%), Portugal (+2.3%), and
Spain (+1.8%) recording the highest values. Sweden (-2.4%),
Czechia (-0.6%), and Latvia (-0.5%) experienced the greatest
