(ANSA) - ROME, 30 LUG - Saxony MEP Maximilian Krah has been chosen as the European Union 2024 chief candidate of Alternative für Deutschland (AfD, Germany's far-right party) with 65.7 percent support. His candidacy, writes Der Spiegel, was also supported by the party's most extremist wing, which is headed by Björn Höcke. Running against Krah, who has been a member of the AfD's federal executive council since 2022, was Andreas Otti of Berlin, also largely unknown within the party. He received 25.2 percent of the vote. 9.1 percent of delegates voted against both candidates. (ANSA).
