Germany: a quarter of population of immigrant origin
20.2 million people with a history of immigration

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 20 - According to the German
statistical office Destatis, there were 20.2 million persons
with a history of immigration in Germany in 2022, up 1.2
million, or 6.5%, from the previous year. Following a 1.3
percentage point increase, this group of persons now accounts
for 24.3% of the population, up from 23.0% in 2021. People with
an immigrant history in Germany are those who have immigrated to
Germany since 1950 (first generation) or are direct descendants
(second generation), Destatis clarified. (ANSA).
