EU should not renew authorization for glyphosate: Green MEPs

Human consumption safe levels have been exceeded

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 5 - The EU must not renew the herbicide glyphosate's authorization, according to three Green MEPs, Benoit Biteau, Sarah Wiener, and Martin Hausling, who presented this morning a new Pesticide Action Network study with the results of a sampling of river and lake water in 12 EU countries. Glyphosate was found in 17 out of 23 samples (74%), and in 11 out of 12 countries. Five of 23 samples (22%), collected in Austria, Spain, Poland, Portugal, contained glyphosate at levels exceeding safe levels for human consumption. (ANSA).
