(ANSA) - BOLZANO, FEB 27 - Regarding trucks at the Brenner
Pass, "a constructive atmosphere is necessary. It is time also
for Italy to present the solutions and proposals that until now
have always been only announced." Austrian Transport Minister
Leonore Gewessler said in an interview with the Tiroler
Tageszeitung ahead of a meeting with her Italian counterpart
Matteo Salvini scheduled for tomorrow. "My position - the
minister added - is very clear: I stand with the Tyroleans who
suffer enormously from the transit (of transalpine heavy
vehicles, ed.). The protection of health and quality of life is
at stake." According to Gewessler, the restrictions on trucks in
Tyrol exist "not out of a whim, but because the situation has
become unbearable." The infringement proceeding before the Court
of Justice of the European Union against Austria that Salvini
announced does not worry the government in Vienna. (ANSA).
