(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 6 - Italy's Federica Brignone won the combined event at the skiing world championships at Meribel Monday.
It is Italy's first gold at the championships at the French resort, and Brigone's first world championship gold.
The 32-year-old from Milan took the gold ahead of Swiss Wendy Haldener, silver, and Austria's Ricarda Haaser, bronze.
US superstar Mikaela Shiffrin, 96/100ths behind Brignone after the SuperG and closing fast in the slalom, skied out at the last gate.
Brignone won the World Cup overall title in 2020, becoming the first Italian female to achieve this feat.
