(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 9 - Premier Giorgia Meloni on Friday
reaffirmed her intention to make a recently introduced temporary
tax reduction for low-income earners structural but said this is
dependent on revenue, which is in turn dependent on growth.
"We are trying to free up resources to put them where they are
needed: in Italy there is a problem with salaries, and the goal
is to make the cut in the tax wedge structural, it depends on
state revenues, which depend on growth," Meloni told journalist
Bruno Vespa during an interview at the 'Italy to Come' forum at
Masseria Li Reni.
In its May 1 labour decree the government introduced cuts to
income taxes and social-security contributions for low earners
from July until the end of the year, saying it would give low
earners up to 100 euros a month more in their pay packets.
