Carlo Bonomi, the president of
industrial association Confindustria, said Monday that he was
against the government's plans to reduce business taxes for
companies that recruit new workers, saying labour taxes should
be cut instead.
"I am against incentives for entrepreneurs who take people on,"
Bonomi told an event organized by daily newspaper La Repubblica,
referring to an element in the plan the government presented
last week to reform the nation's tax system.
"That is our job. Instead we ask for labour tax cuts.
"We have been waging a battle for two years on (lowering) the
labour-tax wedge".
