Adolfo Urso on Friday instructed Italy's price surveillance
watchdog to strengthen price monitoring as part of efforts to
counter inflation.
In a statement the ministry said Urso had "mandated the
Guarantor for Price Surveillance, Benedetto Mineo, to initiate
the necessary actions for closer collaboration with the Regions
to monitor the dynamics of variation in the territories" in
response to the findings of the government's new rapid alert
commission, set up by the recent 'transparency decree'.
"The fight against inflation is a government priority," the
statement added.
