Pope Francis said on his recent trip to Kazakhstan that it was a mistake to call the conflict in Ukraine the Russia-Ukraine war since it was actually a world war, the Vatican said Wednesday.
In his September 15 remarks to his fellow Jesuit organ Civilta Cattolica editor Father Antonio Spadaro, Francis said "a war is taking place and I think it is a mistake to think that it is a cowboy film where there are goodies and baddies.
"And it also is a mistake to think that this is a war between Russia and Ukraine alone.
"No: this is a world war".
