Migrants, border checks to top Golob-Meloni talks: media

Everything must be done to ensure Schengen's survival: PM

13 November, 15:04

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOV 13 - According to sources in Golob's office, the meeting between Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, reportedly scheduled for Tuesday in Rome, will focus on migration and measures to prevent current border controls within the Schengen area from becoming permanent, the Slovenian news agency STA wrote. "Golob's key message as he heads to Rome is that everything must be done to ensure Schengen's survival and to avoid permanent border controls," the Slovenian news agency STA anticipated.
Golob will present some of his ideas for preserving Schengen in Rome. He could suggest, among other things, the establishment of specialised education centres in the countries of origin of migrants, where individuals would receive vocational training for employment in the European Union. Europe, grappling with irregular migration flows, urgently needs labour, so it is necessary to enable people from third countries to come to Europe legally, Slovenian PM will stress. (ANSA).
