(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUL 1 - Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon is scheduled to arrive in Berlin on Friday for her first bilateral visit abroad, the Slovenian news agency STA reported today. Fajon will meet with her German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, to discuss, among other things, the conflict in Ukraine, the Western Balkans, and bilateral cooperation.

Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob will also travel to Germany in the coming weeks for his first bilateral visit abroad.

In a recent interview, Fajon told the STA that Germany was chosen as her and Golob's first destination because Slovenian foreign policy has shifted "toward core countries of Europe" and to strengthen cooperation with "the axis Berlin-Paris-Rome,," Fajon and Baerbock will discuss the consequences of the Ukrainian war, particulary rising energy and food prices.

The foreign ministers will also discuss the situation in the Western Balkans, just a week after Slovenia proposed immediate candidate country status for Bosnia and Herzegovina. (ANSA).
