"Italy's strong interest in doubling
Tap's transport capacity from 10 to 20 billion cubic meters per
year," "a goal that fits perfectly in the strategy Italy is
putting in place to contribute more and more to the
diversification of energy sources that will ensure Italy's
security even in a supplier role compared to many other European
countries." That is what Italy's Minister of Environment and
Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto confirmed, speaking at the
9th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory
Council today in Baku. Pichetto emphasized "that this is a
strategy which Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni personally commits
to, and which aims to affirm Italy's role as a hub to Europe for
the additional flows coming from Africa but also from the
Southern Corridor and for which," he added, "we intend to build
all the necessary infrastructure in Italy.
