(ANSA) - BUCHAREST, SEP 8 - The war in Ukraine is the key
issue at the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, which is taking
place in Bucharest. In his speech, Romania's Premier Marcel
Ciolacu emphasized that "the Three Seas Initiative has become a
shield for the defense of the future of our citizens, our
economies, but above all our security."
The discussion inevitably slipped into the crisis in Ukraine,
which, recently, has created some concern among the Romanian
population, especially those near the borders.
"Ukraine calls us to be more united," Ciolacu continued, "to
devote ourselves more to the defense of democratic values and to
solidarity in building a powerful economy in this area, an
economy that unites and strengthens us. The future must include
the reconstruction of Ukraine and the extension of the European
Union.", the Romanian premier said.
The Three Seas Initiative (3SI) is a platform including 12 EU
countries between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas, whose
goal is to strengthen cooperation, especially in energy
infrastructure, digital, and transport. (ANSA).
