(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 7 - Residents in several
municipalities of Karditsa, a regional unit in central Greece,
had to climb on their roofs on Thursday morning to avoid rising
waters caused by torrential rains that hit the area and nearby
regions in the previous 48 hours, according to the daily
Kathimerini. The municipalities of Palamas and Metamorfosi were
particularly hard hit by flooding, with videos and images from
the area showing houses submerged in muddy waters. According to
the fire department, record rainfall caused at least four deaths
near the central city of Volos and in Karditsa, further west.
Three people have reported missing. (ANSA).
