A bomb under his car seat on Wednesday
killed a Somali man who served 16 years in jail in the murder of
Italian TV reporter Ilaria Alpi and her Italian cameraman Miran
Hrovatin in Mogadishu March 1994 while they were working on a
probe into trafficking in weapons and waste.
Hashi Omar Hassan was found guilty in the double murder but
acquitted on appeal after serving over 16 years in jail.
He was paid three million euros in compensation by the Italian
State.
The Alpi family has always claimed there was a massive cover-up
in the case.
Hassan's death was reported by the independent Somali news site
Garowe Online.
