Italy beat Malta 2-0 in their second
Group C UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier in La Valletta on Sunday
evening.
Goals by forward Mateo Retegui and midfielder Matteo Pessina put
the national team back on track after losing 1-2 to England in
the opening match of the championship last Thursday.
"These are games where you have everything to lose and they tend
to be ugly. We did some things well, others less so, the
important thing was to win," Italy coach Roberto Mancini told
RAI Sport.
Italy's next UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier will be against North
Macedonia on September 9.
